What can the Tish schools at New York University do for my future directing career?

I really want to be a movie director when I get older and I am going to go to New York University but there is a Tish school that is in NYU. I would like to go to the school but what would it do for my career meaning would it get me important phone number, would it get me on a set of a movie? Also what would i major in college?
NYU Tisch is one of the top program in the world, in regards to art… It will not get you set to director your movie… but it would definitely give you a lot of knowledge…. perhaps they will help you in certain aspects, such as finding a job with a movie…. And if you work hard, you might direct your own movie someday…
